Anxiety-Attack

An anxiety-attack is not only normal, but essential to our survival when it is a constructive reaction which enables us to avoid real physical danger.

If it is a situation where the vast majority of people would react the same way, then we consider it ‘normal’.

The anxiety response is designed to make you ready for action in the face of danger.

Find out what happens to your body

Supposing, for example, you were crossing a busy road. You’d been careful to heck the traffic in both directions, but all of a sudden, you’re startled by a loud horn heralding the truck hurtling your way.

Now, the moment your brain becomes aware of the urgency of the danger, your body becomes instantly ready to respond quickly and appropriately - literally saving your life.

The Human race would have been wiped out a long time ago if it weren’t for the benefit of this amazing automatic system.

It’s useful and necessary.

What is the anxiety process in the brain?

On the other hand – supposing you began to panic every time your boss walked into your office ……. Now that’s another matter!

It’s not deliberate of course – it all happens unconsciously and automatically.

You don’t deliberately over react just as you don’t have to stop what you’re doing, pause and reflect and cone to the conclusion that, all things considered, it’s time to get out of the way of a speeding vehicle.

However, the quality of the habitual thoughts you have will make a difference to your perception of danger and tour ability to keep things in perspective.

What’s the difference then between real and imagined danger?
